The experienced executive’s appointment comes soon after Paradigm reaffirmed its commitment to supporting blockchain startups and other new technologies, such as artificial intelligence.
According to a report from The Block, Swain was enthused to join Paradigm, citing his extensive experience in the tech sector and his belief in the transformative potential of cryptocurrency.
Swain’s new role at Paradigm is expected to improve the company’s outreach and communication efforts, and help align its mission to support the next generation of crypto innovators.
At the time, Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang highlighted the VC firm’s enduring belief in crypto’s importance as a technical and economic shift, a sentiment that has only grown stronger since Paradigm’s founding.

The report further stated that Alana Palmedo, Paradigm’s managing partner and chief operating officer, praised Swain’s understanding of technical breakthroughs and his valuable perspective for the firm’s portfolio and the broader crypto industry.
Swain previously worked as head of global communications at Instagram and senior director of technology communications at Facebook. He also served as vice president of global partnerships at the social fitness app Strava.
In June, the venture capital firm successfully raised 0 million for its fund, which aims to continue its support for early-stage crypto projects.
So far in 2024, Paradigm has played key roles in the funding of more than 10 major crypto projects. Notable investments include leading a 5 million series A round for layer 1 blockchain developer Monad and a 0 million series A for decentralized social networking protocol Farcaster.
